Adobe Photoshop Basic Gloss Effect Tutorial
Difficulty(/10)
:
What you need: Photoshop (any version, i used cs2) and basic sense of navigation around your program.

Your first going to want to create a "New" document. I used a 500x300 pixel creation.
Spoiler:

After you create your new document create a a base black image using the "rounded rectangle tool"

Spoiler:

Then hole Control on your keyboard and click the thumbnail icon of your creation on the Layer Palette.

Spoiler:

After that is complete, your end result should be your basic shape selected.
If that is your end result, you can move on to making the gloss selection. You can do this by selecting the "rectangular marquee" tool that has been highlighted in the picture below and dragging it down to about half way down the image.
Spoiler:

For this too work correctly you need to make sure when selecting with your marquee tool that the "intersect with selection" option is highlighted.

Spoiler:

After all this you should get this result;
Spoiler:

Then select the "gradient tool" from the drop down menu
Spoiler:

Select the "foreground to transparent", have your foreground color white and opacity 10-20 percent.Drag the line down the halfway selection and you should end up with this result

Have fun with your new creation!
