How To Add GIMP Brushes To GIMP
To add a GIMP brush to GIMP, you first have to create it or download it. You are required to save it to the file format of GIMP. ( .gbr )
GIMP uses the ".gbr" file format.
After you created or downloaded the brush, change the file type to ".gbr" then copy and paste the file to your GIMP Brush Folder.
If you are having problems finding the GIMP Brush Folder, you can quickly find it by clicking your Start button and searching for the text.

Type in your version of GIMP, then you will see the folder ( example - gimp 2.6 ) . Click it and find the 'Brushes' folder.
Now, you will see something like this : ( those are the files of each brush design you created or downloaded )

Copy and paste the brush with a file type .gbr into your brush folder that you opened up.
Now, run your GIMP version, and look for the brushes in the 'Layers, Channels, Paths, Undo-Brushes, Patterns, Gradients' window docks.
Note : The above window dock is only one window with a long name ( Layers, Channels, Paths, Undo-Brushes, Patterns, Gradients ) .
GIMP normally uses three file types for brushes. They are '.gbr' , '.gih' and '.vbr' .
What the file types are used for :
All of those file formats should work if you try this tutorial with GIMP.
